Frequently asked questions

Which AI subscription is the best value?

It depends on what you're optimizing for. For general chat and writing at $20/month, Claude Pro includes the flagship Opus 4.7 reasoning model and Claude Code for developers. ChatGPT Plus offers broader tooling (Sora video, DALL-E, Advanced Voice, custom GPTs). Google AI Pro throws in 2TB storage and deep Gmail/Docs integration for roughly the same price. Perplexity Pro wins for research because it lets you pick the model per query.

Is ChatGPT Pro ($200) worth it over Plus ($20)?

Only if you consistently hit Plus's usage caps or need the Pro reasoning mode (o3-pro), unlimited Sora video, or the Operator agent. For most users, Plus handles 95% of use cases.

What's the difference between Claude Max 5x and 20x?

Both give you flagship Opus 4.7 access. The 5x plan ($100/mo) gives roughly five times the Pro plan's usage allowance; the 20x plan ($200/mo) gives twenty times. If you use Claude Code for hours every day, 20x is the rate you want.

How often is this data updated?

Our autonomous monitoring pipeline checks every provider's official pricing page every 30 minutes. Prices that change get cross-verified against a second independent source (help center, changelog, or Wayback snapshot) before we update this page. You can verify the sources for each plan on its detail page.

Should I pay for a subscription or use the API directly?

If you're a developer building an app, the API is almost always cheaper. If you're a consumer who uses AI through a chat interface and sends more than ~20 prompts per day, a subscription is usually cheaper. Our Subscription vs API calculator shows the break-even for your actual usage.

How we source this data

Every price on this page is cross-verified against at least two independent sources (the provider's official pricing page plus their help-center documentation, changelog, or a Wayback Machine snapshot). Our reconciliation pipeline blocks any price change that doesn't have ≥2 agreeing sources, and flags any move >30% as an anomaly requiring manual review. Full source URLs for each plan are visible on the plan's detail page. See methodology.
