xAI launched Grok Bot on August 11, 2026. It is a product for creating persistent, named AI teammates that can use a browser, terminal, files, connectors, and websites on a cloud computer—not a new Grok API model.
The important pricing detail is what xAI did not announce: there is no standalone Grok Bot rate card. Initial access depends on an eligible xAI or Cursor plan, and usage can become metered after the included weekly allowance.
What changed
Before the launch, xAI’s public developer release notes did not list Grok Bot as an available product. It is now available through desktop apps for macOS and Windows, plus an iPhone app for iOS 18 or later. Linux desktop, Android, and iPad are not supported at launch.
