What does the $1,000-plus figure mean?
Gwern's official proposal says a Guardian Angel designer should aim for a system that costs more than $1,000 per month in mid-2026. It also sketches a startup strategy selling subscriptions first to power users for whom that amount could be small relative to the value created.
This is a design constraint and business-model example, not an official Guardian Angel plan. There is no checkout page, plan name, included usage, contract term, or customer quote tied to that number. Treating it as a list price would overstate what the company announced.

What Guardian Angel proposes
Guardian Angels are intended to be personal “digital twin” LLMs. The proposal emphasizes learning one person's preferences and values through private archives, corrections, active questions, and ongoing model updates. The goal is an agent that can amplify its principal while also screening communications and other agents for security threats.
That architecture could involve substantially more than ordinary chatbot inference. The proposal discusses dynamic evaluation, model ensembles, training on personal corpora, synthetic-data generation, append-only logs, and potentially dedicated hardware. Guardian Angel Inc has not disclosed which of those ideas will appear in an initial product or how any usage will be billed.
Why no price appears in the API
AI Pricing Guru records official, billable products—not inferred launch prices. A company announcement without a customer-access path or billing unit does not support a model or subscription row. “No price announced” also cannot be encoded as zero because that would imply free access.
The canonical pricing dataset and public pricing API therefore contain no Guardian Angel row. This page is supervised against official sources every day during the launch window. We will add structured pricing only after the company publishes verifiable terms.
Labs availability blocker
Guardian Angel cannot enter the Cost-per-Task Labs leaderboard without public access, a stable product version, measurable usage, an official rate, and a reproducible grader. The current 49-task suite measures deterministic model answers; it does not measure whether a private agent learns one person's preferences or safely handles personal data.
A valid future test would need a consented training corpus, held-out samples, a fixed adaptation budget, privacy and deletion controls, and a comparison against a generic agent using the same base model. Until then, the correct Labs treatment is an explicit availability and evaluation blocker.
What would change this status?
- A public alpha, beta, waitlist, or signup with documented eligibility.
- A subscription price, contract minimum, metered usage rate, or defined no-cost access period.
- A product specification covering base model, personalization method, data handling, and supported actions.
- A stable version that can be tested with reproducible inputs and measured resource use.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Guardian Angel AI cost?
Guardian Angel Inc has not published a customer price, paid plan, contract minimum, API rate, or free tier. The official proposal discusses a design cost above $1,000 per month, but that is not a buyable plan or quote.
Can I sign up for Guardian Angel?
No public signup, waitlist, trial, or product-access page was announced on August 4. The launch post says the company is looking for people to help build the product.
Is Guardian Angel an AI model or an agent product?
It is a proposed personalized-agent system and a new company, not a released base model. The proposal describes training or adapting an LLM to one principal using personal data, ongoing feedback, and continual learning.
Why is Guardian Angel not in the pricing API?
There is no verifiable billable SKU, public model ID, or official billing unit. Adding a zero-dollar or placeholder row would falsely imply that a product is available.
Can Guardian Angel be compared in Labs?
Not yet. It lacks public access, a stable version, usage records, an official rate, and a reproducible personalization benchmark. Generic base-model results would not measure the proposed personalization layer.
